More’s Reserve

More’s Reserve is a native bush reserve with walking tracks located at the top of Richard Street. Both short and longer walks available and is suitable for beginners. From the car park you can look down and see Riverton/Aparima township. Tracks provide panoramic views of Foveaux Strait and feature abundant birdlife. This area includes wahi tapu/treasured places for Maori and visitors are asked to respect this.

Hilltop Lookout Track 20 minutes return
A short uphill walk on a gravel track is rewarded by outstanding panoramic views across to Rakiura/Stewart Island.
More’s Lookout Track 45 minutes return
An easy walk through native forest emerges at a tree-top lookout platform, which offers bird’s eye views of the southern coastline and forest below.
Kings Track 20 minutes return
This easy walking track follows a route used by early settlers through a nice sheltered gully with older vegetation. It emerges from the bush to offer wonderful views over Riverton/Aparima and the Southland Plains.
More’s Coastal Loop Track 2 hours return
The track emerges from coastal forest and follows marker posts along the beaches and rocky outcrops of the southern coastlines. The track is best walked in an anticlockwise direction from the car park down to the back beach and back up again, returning via Kings Track. It is maintained to tramping track standard and may be muddy in places with some steep sections.
