Monkey Island, Orepuki

Monkey Island is a popular family-friendly beach and freedom camping spot about 15 minutes north of Riverton, on the Southern Scenic Route. Visitors can explore the many rockpools and surrounding farmland. At low tide only it’s possible to reach the island climb to the lookout for views of Te Waewae Bay, Stewart Island/Rakiura and mountains of Fiordland.
